Track Refurbishment 2025

The photographs below show some of the progress from old to new.

The track has now had its top coat applied and it will now take a few days for the red surface to cure / harden.

The line marking team are due to start work on 29th April and will take up to 14 days (weather permitting) to complete this work.

Work is now progressing. The old track surface has now been removed. The base has been levelled and the base layer has been partially laid. Long and Triple Jump troughs are in place and the old hammer circle has been filled in.

The new base layer (black) on the sub base. The white tape is covering the drainage channel.

The light areas are where the track has been levelled up.
The old hammer circle has now been removed and filled in.

Further progress with more of the top surface now removed. Great care has to be taken not to damage the asphalt base layer. Once the old surface has been removed, the base layer will be surveyed to make sure it is level and in good condition.

The rubber will be recycled and used for loose flooring in equestrian centres.

The new track surface will be a Polytan surface.

This System is installed in the track and can be used by anyone with the Smart Run App

The Smart Run by Humotion app offers the option to record and display all the relevant parameters of linear sprints, assisted by sensors in the smartphone. To do this, the smartphone simply needs to be placed in a running belt on the athlete’s lower back, and the app will measure all the data.

This is one of the track sensors used for timing. It is hidden now the track surface has been laid.
